- Before SurgeryFinal Preparations:Wash hair the night before (you may not be able to wash it for several days post-op)
- Remove all nail polish and makeupDo not apply lotions, creams, or deodorants on the day of surgery

FACIAL SURGERY SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
Pre-Operative Care/Skin Preparation:
- Use gentle, fragrance-free cleansers for 1 week prior
- Avoid facial treatments, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks
- Stop retinoids and glycolic acid products 1 week before surgery
- Protect skin from sun exposure
- Special Considerations:Arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you for 24-48 hours
- Stock soft foods and liquids for post-operative nutrition
- Obtain extra pillows to keep head elevated during recovery,Remove contact lenses before surgery (bring glasses)
- Day of Surgery:Arrive with a completely clean face (no makeup, moisturizer, or skincare products)
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that doesn't pull over your head
- Bring a button-up shirt or zip-up hoodieWear comfortable, flat shoes
HAND SURGERY SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
- Keep fingernails short and clean
- Remove all jewelry from hands and wrists
- Remove nail polish completely
- Practice daily activities with your non-dominant hand
- Special Arrangements:Arrange help with daily activities (cooking, dressing, personal care)Prepare your home for one-handed living
- Stock easy-to-open food containers
- Set up a comfortable area for hand elevation
- Day of Surgery:Wear loose-fitting clothes that are easy to put on with one hand
- Bring a large, loose shirt or jacket to accommodate post-surgical dressing
- Arrange for assistance with transportation and post-operative care
DIABETES
If You Have Diabetes Follow specific instructions provided by your Physician / Surgeon regarding insulin and blood sugar management. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Bring your glucose meter and supplies
WHAT TO BRING ON SURGERY DAY

- List of current medications and dosages

- Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes
- Payment for any required co-pays or deductibles
- Bring family member or a friend as a bystander when you are admitted.
- You must have a family member or a friend to drive you home after surgery.

WHEN TO COME
3 hours before the surgery
Contact Your Surgeon's Clinic
- If:You develop a cold, fever, or flu symptoms

- You need to reschedule due to illness
- You have concerns about the procedure
Post-Operative Preparation,
- Ensure you have:
- Prescribed medications ready,
- Ice packs or frozen peas for swelling
- Gauze and medical supplies as recommended
- Comfortable recovery area set up at home
- Arranged time off work and assistance with daily activities.
- Don't forget to take sick leave before leaving the hospital, if needed
