insurance coverage in plastic surgery

What IS Typically Covered (Medical Necessity):

 1.Children and Adult facial cuts/injuries

 2.Domestic hand injuries 

 3. Burns

 4. Wounds

 5. Skin grafting/Flaps

Procedures Generally NOT Covered by Insurance:

1. Cosmetic/Aesthetic Procedures

2. Congenital conditions like cleft lip/palate etc.

3.Mole removal is usually not covered by most of the insurance.

4. Road Traffic Accidents are usually not covered.

5. Work related hand injuries are usually not covered.

6. Self inflicted or suicidal injuries are usually not covered.

7. Industrial injuries are usually not covered.

8. professional sports/Adventure sports are usually not covered.

Key Insurance Principle:

The deciding factor is whether the insurance company considers the procedure to be medically necessary. If a patient wants plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons, then plastic surgery is not covered by insurance. 

Only In-patient ,not out patient coverage by insurance:

For injury-related cases, coverage may be considered - please contact our plastic surgery nurse in person / on Toll free number 8006624 to discuss your specific situation.


 Cash Payments 

  • Cash payment patients may be eligible for applicable discounts as per hospital policy. 
  • Additional discounts may be available for Fazaa card,Esaad card holders, select bank credit cards and other eligible discount programs.
  • Please inquire at registration for current discount rates. Alternatively, contact our billing department for applicable discount information. 

For Patients with Surgery done elsewhere/Previous Surgery:

 To ensure your safety and proper treatment planning, patients operated elsewhere must bring:

  • Medical report
  • Discharge summary
  • Referral letter  from the treating  doctor, in English

  1.  These documents are mandatory for consultation.
  2.   Consultation cannot proceed without these mandatory documents.
  3.   Please ensure you have all documents  before  scheduling your appointment.

Follow-up Visit Charges:

  1.  Follow-up consultations may require payment as per your insurance and hospital policy. 
  2.  For cases where only in-patient procedures are covered by insurance, consultation fees and dressing charges must be paid according to hospital policy. 
  3. Kindly confirm the charges with the receptionist and Plastic Surgery nurse, to avoid any inconvenience.
